Since the 1940s, Weatherby has had a reputation for building accurate rifles. In the early 1970s, as a complement to the Mark V, the company introduced the value-priced Vanguard line of hunting rifles that continued that tradition. In 2011, the Series 2 was unveiled to update the Vanguard line. In 2013, Weatherby went one step further and introduced the Series 2 Back Country.
The Back Country has a 24-inch fluted barrel featuring chrome moly metalwork with a CeraKote Tactical Grey finish that is weather resistant and avoids corrosion. The pillar-bedded, Monte Carlo composite stock has spiderweb accents. This rifle weighs 6.75 lbs., which is perfect for the hunter who plans to put a ton of bootprints on the ground and needs something a little lighter.
